It must take a pretty good horse to shove all them bales ahead, will a skid steer do it?


It will - but a farm tractor or tracked skid loader works better. If your loader is too light, you can stab them in the side and load the front of the trailer first from the side, then finish loading the last half of the load from the back.

We never have any problems with the bales loosening up. I sold three hundred bales this week that were all hauled in last spring and side dumped. The guy that bought them hauled them off on a side dump as well, and they are fine.

I'm looking for a double row side dump trailer to haul more with. One man and one loader can move a lot of hay in a day with a side dump.
