Subject: RE: Limo cattle / feeders thoughts

NC Ohio
I have a small mixed herd. My last bull has half Lim half angus, had the look of a straight red Lim.

I had a couple of his heifers on feed. I sell everything as freezer beef. The first question from the butcher after he say the carcus was if they were Lim's

First one was on feed for 147 days, 1160 live weight with a ADG of 3.5, hung at 720 & cut yield was around 50%. Had 1-2" of back fat with little marbling. Would have grading low choice.

Second one was on feed for 135 days, 1180 live weight, 3.19 ADG, 728 hagning, cut yield at 48%, 2-3" back fat with minimal marbling. Also would have graded low choice.

From my very limited experience they don't marble well but will put on plenty of fat. I shoot for a mid-high choice for freezer beef, good marble without a lot of extra fat. These didn't do it for me. My bull this year is an angus.
