Almost impossible to market your own milk. If you are Independant and seek direct to a plant the plant is required to inspect your farm. Another layer of stuff they don't won't to deal with. Then their is the issue of balancing the farmers supply.

As a previous poster mentioned national buyers are pressuring the supply chain. Dairy co ops have not responded properly. First of all the co ops need to cut the fat. Operations need to be streamlined. Secondly they need to offer some type of value to the big national buyers. The same old milk in the same old packaging offers zero incentive for the grocery stores to pay more.
