Probably easiest way to to this is cross at least some of your cows with beef bulls. If any of the half blood heifers look good add them to your existing herd and feed out the rest. As to the Holsteins in the hutches, I would recommend sourcing them from neighbouring farms if possible. Buying sale barn calves to do what you're talking about is an uphill battle trying to keep them healthy. Most calves like that get minimal care at best and whatever illness 1 calf in the pen has they all have. Perhaps you could even work it out where your suppliers would give them whatever vaccinations and such that you prefer. You could either provide what you want used or they follow your preference and you give them a premium to do so.
