That is a mild version of "bottle jaw" which is associated with severe rapid weight loss ..........most commonly from intestinal parasites.
To diagnose wooden tongue you usually see drooling, perhaps hay or grass stuck in the mouth but not being chewed and when you examine the mouth, the tongue will be hard and swollen.
Most calves with that kind of fever will have pneumonia. I doubt penicillin will work on it if it's pneumonia. Probably would work on wooden tongue. | |
