Lottsburg VA | We ran a Deere s680 vs a case Ih 8120 in high yielding winter wheat. The case had a macdon and Deere had Deere's draper. The 8120 was all over the Deere. We used to run all Green now have a red combine. The case handled the lodged wheat better, and the chopper did a better job of both cutting and spreading the residue. Now our combine we ordered with extended wear rotor, but it had a standard wear transition cone, if you order the machine make sure you get that, we wore a hole in ours at about 1500 separator hours. The extended wear solves this. The best thing is being able to reverse the feeder by itself, and the ability to rock the rotor if you plug the machine. The case will feed much smoother in all conditions. Cutting 40ft in lodged winter wheat is tough on any machine, but knowing that you can unplug machine from the cab gives you peace of mind. | |
