Subject: RE: Cat Challenger 65???

east central NE.
I have a 75 d that has cost me very little in repairs. The brakes are a problem , but we solved that by putting a caliper from a case tractor on the rotor on the drive shaft along with the emerengy brake. It works very good. We did wear out one set of tracks and that is the only major money we put in it. I guess we have put on a few boggie wheels. We do not put a lot of hours on it anymore, and had 1600 hr. when I bought it and probably around 5500 now. Most of the hours are on a scraper or pulling a 60 ft. harrow. When I first got it and would start it in cold condition , the trans would slip untell it warmed up , but has never been a problem and cat said that was normal.
