Huntley Montana | We got Beets to harvest. Has to thaw out so we can go without delivering frozen chunks of dirt. Then the trucks & tractors like to sink. Trucks have to run next to harvestor, sometime it takes a "halter" & a lead tractor on the truck. Then we hit a wet spot with the harvestor & use the "halter" on the puller tractor.
IF I can figgure out the new camera I'll post some pic's.
It's a mess here in SC Montana, about 7000 acre of beets left here to harvest, was 1 of the best looking beet crops ever for the area . Harvest costs went from $200 up to $350-400 acre. Trucks don't like mud.
How wouuld you like a pair of 12-16" deep truck tracks every 11-12' 50-60,000# 10 wheelers. 11 good thing is tha soil is so wet that it will freeze & heave this winter. I'd bet the truck tracks will freeze 3-6' deep depending on how much snow we get this winter. | |
