| I have a completely different view on the first gen MX series. I've been working on them since they came out in 99 and their still one of the biggest POS that CIH has ever produced. The good is a great cab and indestructible PTO, The bad is they will take out the engine drive shaft joints and or flexplate every 3-4 thousand hours. If that doesn't happen, I promise you'll be putting in an engine pan gasket within that time and then you'll have to pull the motor. We've never had a Caps pump last over 5k hours and that was very rare, but you'll keep busy fixing blown hyd lines under the cab if you don't need to work on the pump. You need to pull the fuel tank to replace the fuel sending unit which involves taking the wheels off. You better hope your hyd controller computer doesn't go bad. We've had two go bad in the last year and they are no longer available and you have to take the controller off and send it to CNH and they will repair it for you for about $3000 because Ag Express can't do anything with them.Any hyd valve stack leak will leave crying if you have to fix it. Just look for the valves and you'll see why. When everything is running they really are nice to drive, but then you find out that their a mutt for power. I could carry on about lots more which was a common problem to all of them but I'll quit.A guy by me just picked up a 7 thousand hour 270 for 35k, resale is a mirror of the reputation of the product. Other than that I like em.
