I agree.
Many years ago as a child I used to sit on our front porch and admire the freshly ripening cherries on the tree just a few feet away. When they were ripe they had better been picked bacause about a day later the birds would come in and destroy them. Hence my saying "when the cherries are ripe you better pick-em". Same goes for field crops. Often you might get a second chance but sometimes you don't - takes one year of "don't" to set the finances back years. Now days crop insurance might take some of the sting out but will not replace a good crop. John
