Keep in mind you are also selling them 1% moisture by weight for each point also and getting paid for that weight.

So even though you are getting docked 8 cents if corn is $3.50 you are getting paid back 3.5 cents by weight. So you are loosing around a nickel per point rather than 8 cents.

Another consideration is if you dry it can you hit that 15.5% moisture nail on the head? If you end up over drying it to say 14.5, then you have just lost 1% of weight by moisture so you have given yourself a 3.5 cent "dock" on your dried grain.
