Texas/New Mexico Stateline | FWIW I personally know of a big commercial yard that quit buying cattle from a certain cattle buyer because they found tags from a previous owner they had trouble with in the past. Seemed awfully silly, but they were serious. Talking thousands of cattle a year from that buyer they basically black-balled.
I don't know if I am clear or not, but it went like this.
1st purchase was calves from a trader down south and had "X" name tags. 2nd owner was backgrounding those calves and left those "X" tags in. When they got them big and sent them to big feedyard, they found those "X" tags and said 'we don't deal with "X" in no uncertain terms. We are not buying any cattle from 2nd party because they may still buy cattle from "X".'
Crazy stuff.
