It sounds like you are buying a long term type herd. I guess I would make sure you are getting what you want. Because spring calving cows are cheap at the market right now. Sounds like you found a year round calving herd at a premium. If it's not what you really want I would pass. Because your pasture will be full and you won't have the flexibility to go another direction.
I would prefer to buy black and red spring calving/short bred culls at the market compared to your deal. If I had that situation, here. But I've never owned corriente or know how they are valued in your location. If they are like longhorns cattle, not only no, but heck no.
If Angus aren't working for you, maybe brangus, beefmaster, red Angus. Plenty of things to look at.
80 cows and 17 with calves is a real turnoff unless the others will calve in the next 6 weeks. | |
