Subject: RE: bean yield discussion below

Northeast Iowa
Our yields here in NE Iowa have been all over. The worst we picked was 22, the best we picked was 62. We aren't done yet, but I don't see improvement.

Lots of 50, some in the 40s, but still have a hard time seeing a 49 all country average on beans. We are just outside Waterloo, Iowa and had lots of good rain most of the summer, not too dry most of the time. I expected better. so I'm kind of bulled up, thinking about buying a SB Futures Contract to re-own some of my sold beans. Commercial storage is 18 cents to get into January, and I don't see basis improving more than a few cents. Therefore I can justify an additional 15 cents to stop-loss on beans on top of whatever level I'm typically willing to risk.

Is anyone else looking at March beans as a good month to own?
