Faunsdale, AL | DairyOne in NewYork.
They will send you the mailers and current price/submission forms. Their NIR packages are fast and cheap.....and accurate enough for most ration balancing uses!
Any bales of hay or haylage really need to be cored to get an accurate sample. Or if you are grinding or chopping them you can get multiple samples from the pile and blend before sampling and packing into the sample bag. The coreing tool is a bit pricey but your county extension office may have one they can loan or know who has one. They were designed to be used in a hand brace, but a 1/2 inch drill works like a charm!
Your extension office may be able to point you to a lab at VT. It has been a LONG time since I was a student there, but I think they used to do forage analysis through extension. I would still consider DairyOne, they are fast, accurate and reasonably priced (if you cannot get them done for free through extension)
