Faunsdale, AL | I would not bother with fiber in that slab.
I would set a temporary 2x4 on short stakes to divide the pour into two 10' strips so you can more easily screed it off and get it basically level. Experienced folks do not need this, just some grade stakes, but it makes it easy for the amateur. Fill both sides as far as one length of the 2x4 and then pull it out..(remember the short stakes!), throw in some concrete with a shovel to replace it and bull float it off.
Please do put grooves in it or plan on having it grooved before you loose a nice heifer on it! Much better to spend the money on the grooving (or do it for practically free when the concrete is wet) than to go through that with a cow doing the splits. Whatever method you use to place the grooves, start when the concrete is wet so you don't miss the best time to get them to turn out good. You will be an expert by the time you are through! | |
