Subject: USDA BEEF CARCASS PRICE

King City, Mo
Anyone use this when pricing a freezer beef?

We are getting very close to having the first one for the boys to sell and just need to pick how were going to price it. I don't wanna haul one head to town weigh, and weigh back empty ect as we will only be doing one head at a time. The butcher comes to the farm as well.

Was thinking adding 10%-15%? to the prime cost so the customer had an idea of the cost? They pay for processing ect as well.

It would be something easy for a mom or non farmer to see and a 3rd party setting the price.

If demand for beef is higher we could just increase the premium.

Not looking for a get rich quick deal for the kids just something honest where they make a small premium. The real value is the joy and learning from having a handful of cattle around. Our target market is families who have kids at home and are normal small town people.
