Eastern Ontario | This pasture was established in the late 1960's through the 'ARDA' program, Agricultural Rehabilitation Development Act. The province purchased farms that were either small or marginal land and made a economically viable block of land. The Leeds county pasture is about 1500 acres of marginal land it was sold from the province to an association of local farmers in the year 2000 to be run as not for profit.
Producers are charged according to animals weight going on in spring. Cattle must be dehorned and vaccinated. There is a pasture manager hired by the association who cares for the animals. Fly tags, ivermectin, salt and mineral are included in the grazing fee.
