If you are doing a cattle yard that has been mud, dig it all out, down to good clean subsoil, backfill with good gravel packed in 6 inch layers or less (your tractor will pack it if you spend enough time, just keep going till the tread marks are 1/2 inch or less each lift). With a good base and 6 inches of concrete you likely don't need rebar, but it is cheap so use it. Be sure to have some along the edges of your pour (in about a foot) so the edges don't break out. | |
