Wabash county,Il
Your right, not enough animals to capitalize on bulk loads of multiple feeds but enough to give yourself an ulcer worrying about.
Distillers, wet or dry, would be an option to supplement your hay straw combo along with buying more marginal hay. Shop around there is hay to be found in the $100/ton range.
I think higher quality alfalfa could be trucked in in the $250-280 range.
The above mentioned cotton gin trash idea would be a good option in location was better but might be worth looking into. Your @200 miles from closest gins. If it could be gotten for next to nothing, they most likely have a client list though, and could get a load delivered on a live floor trailer I think you'd have at least $40-50 per ton in it.

Do you do your own nutrition work or do you use any nutritionist.
