I would go wider than 12 foot it is hard to keep or get large groups of cattle 80 head or more moving in that width. It need to be pretty stout because they run down the lane then come back at you and pile up putting quit a bit of pressure on fence. I think 16 feet wide lessens pressure and lets them get turned back around.
