N FLA | Wow you are filling up with cattle and feed.
I will be overstocked here soon. Been racking my brain how I want to proceed. No equipment to work with. I really would be best to prolong my stockpile availability. No loader, and no storage, so not much flexibility. Cows don't really want to eat the poor hay grown around here until everything is brown, otherwise they will just push out the fences to get something green elsewhere. So it's hard to supplement a green pasture with hay.
Thinking about distillers grain mixed with salt again. I also have some nasty grass taking over a pasture that they tell us cattle don't like to eat, and which so far is obvious in that pasture.. I wonder if the distillers would encourage consumption if they got extra protein in their belly. I have my cattle pretty well setup that at one location they all need the extra feed value, so it might be worth doing there. The fall feed slump is my least favorite time of the year. | |
