Subject: RE: Does the seasonal $1.50 per cwt at worthing, sd, still apply

Fontanelle, IA
BigCCharlie - are the feedlots delivering to to NE vs worthing, SD, currently because of the $1.50 per cwt discount that CME assesses on the delivery? If the feedlot is closer to Worthing by X miles @ $5 per loaded mile on the truck is a feedlot manager playing the actual freight spread vs. the CME "implied" discount spread due to the "quoted" significant numbers of finished cattle available during sept/October traditionally in the Dakotas. In a sense, burn the diesel and head the truck south?
Wasn't this the reason that many in SD, IA, and MN state cattle associations were really riled up last year? Or, are the USDA graders really picky in worthing right now because they can because there are so many cattle that flood their plant right now?
