Subject: RE: Jake, composting ?

Thanks Jake! I've got a backfiller (ditching) that I'm thinking about trying to turn some composted chicken manure with. I will harvest my first organic corn crop soon,(if it ever stops raining) just wondering what the market looked like in your part of the world.

My biggest problem this year with the organic corn was denitrification, five tons a chicken litter just did not get the job done. I'm thinking its going to take a five year rotation to make the corn component work. soybeans, wheat, alfalfa, alfalfa, corn is what I'm thinking today, was hoping to get by with a three year soybeans, wheat, corn. I just don't have a good market for organic alfalfa.

Its been an interesting challenge, and now that I'm finally certified we can make more money on conventional corn, figures, oh well.
