NW KS/ SC ID | They use standardized axles that brakes are available everywhere, I never even checked PJ and just ordered a completely loaded backing plate off ebay for 55 bucks.
Lug breakage is likely someone overtightening, and I think all 14-20K trailers require brake removal to change.
So I would say none of your issues were PJ specific.
I am definitely not standing up for PJ as I can complain about lots of things about them. :)
