tjdub - 10/9/2017 23:17 A guy from Ferryville told me that the only reason that bridge is still in such good shape is that it went unused for so long when the other bridge on the Wisconsin side was out. Just looked it up and it turns out it was only closed from 1945 to 1957, though. It will be a sad day around here when it closes for good because I doubt it will be replaced. I see that was built as a private toll bridge in 1929 but now operated by IA and WI. Interesting and very historic as well as a case study in engineering statics. |
