Fairbury, NE (Southeast) | I remember two bubbles ago when the small IRA I had bought in 99 went to zero by 2002. High fees, poor asset allocation and a freefalling market wiped it out. In 2007 a relative sold a house in AZ for twice what he paid. By 2010 it was back to what he paid.
With the Stock market on this kind of trajectory one better be prepared for a violent landing. Diversity would be prudent.
We saw this in the 20's, the 30's..From the 1934 rebound high from the great crash the market fell and did not eclipse the 34 high.....til 1954...20 years is a long time to wait for that promised 8% return. .
From the 70's, 1987, 1999, and 2007 the market reminded us it never lasts. We will see it again. Sooner rather than later.
