NW Indiana | This concept is interesting. In order to cover fix cost just try to raise enough to cover that. Maybe plant 12k population. Might be shocking how much more profitable this could be. Only problem with this is the pride swallowing involved. I guess also the impact on aph. I'm thinking out loud right now. If I could raise 120bu corn at 3.50 that is 420/ac. Seed cost of $25/ac machinery $50/ac nitrogen $30/ac Dry fert $30/ac heck no insurance so call it 115 off 420 leaves me 305/ac. Call rent 225 and i'm up $80/ac. If the market was to take off I am out bushels so I buy my normal aph and have the same risks. Only variable is potential yield farming all out but there is risks involved in that. You have me thinking.
Edit: I forgot chemicals so take off another $25/ac
