There used to be a cattle product called SpotOn. It was a topical formulation of the insecticide fenthion. Local vets recommended it for flea control on DOGS. One of my cousins dosed all his kids' cats too!
When his wife came home she quickly realized something was wrong with the cats. If anyone made a loud noise the cats would turn back flips! I think most of them survived.
