Subject: RE: Geringhoff Northstar 830 vs. Case IH 4400

Last good cornhead IH /CIH made was the 1000 series. We have owned a 3212, 3408, & a 4412. Ran the 4412 less than 1 1/3 seasons. Lots of issues, desler went completely thru it after the 1st yea, also put all the udates on it. Didn't help muchTraded it during the 2nd season for a new aGerringhoff 12x30 head. We're starting our 3rd season, has about 3,000 acres on it. Only problem so far was to replace on of the lower gathering chain sprockets after getting a rock caught in it & replacing one of the flasher lights that got broke on a overhanging limb.

FWIW, several of the CIH dealers in this area are also Gerringhoff dealers. Would take a lot for us to go back to a CIH corn head.
