Faunsdale, AL | The picture is of a hematoma most likely from scratching or shaking the head. Cat feels fine other than the irritation of the heavy painful ear. As others have said, needs to be drained to haveva chance for an erect normal ear, but can still wind up crumpled even with proper treatment.
The abscesses from fighting are different. That will absolutely lay a cat low......very sick, fever, depressed, not eating. Just one things cats cannot handle very well. Sometimes hard to even find where the puncture was until the fur is shaved, but that's usually the best place to drain it. Drain it, flush it, treat with antibiotics and the cat will be good as new.
Vets office can anesthetize the cat and do the job safely. One bite into a joint or tendon sheath of a finger and the medical bills can easily exceed the most most expensive vet. Cats have some bad bacteria in their mouth. Be careful! | |
