Anyone have or use the DN345 dry spreader? They look like an impressive machine. Just wondering if they work for applying 2 products variable rate at the same time?

I believe its just a New Leader box on a JD chassis. Last I heard they were $112,000 list price.

My uncle just got one. Yes, it's a new leader box. Says right on it. It will variable rate 2 products. That chassis is built super heavy. You must have a 8430 or 8530 to pull it. That's the only hitch they make for it. Also need GS2. Looks like quite a machine, but i think if you're going to spend that much you should just buy a floater. I heard there are only 4 in the whole US. but that could just be a rumor.

You don't have to have ILS..... but that machine is built to be pulled wide open across the field.

What on earth does that mean?  The 8430 and 8530 have some special hitch that does not hook to normal implements?

They have to be able to go on a 9000 series as that is what many coops have and would put on them. the spreader has a special ball hitch, in which case you must have to slide in a special drawbar in the the tractor.

Just get a floater and paint it green if you have to have green.

I don't know about the 9000 series. I know you have to have the 30 series for the wiring and brakes, but I would think you would be able to get one wired into the GS 2 on any rig.. I also know that an 8130 8230 and 8330 will not work. I haven't seen it, but apparently, the hitch mounts to the frame of the tractor some how. They do not make the hitch for the smaller 3 8030 series, Which is weird because I thought the frame was the same on all those tractors. Also, They want you to have the 30 series so you can get the trailer brake option. However, there is a way around that. These are meant to be pulled fast. They are BUILT HEAVY. I am not 100% sure of these facts, just repeating what i have been told.

My uncle is having a machine shop fabricate a hitch for his 8320. I've heard the hitch from JD is $2500

Thanks for the feedback!! Have considered the floater option but don't like the extra powertrain to have to worry about.

Below is what Deere lists for compatibility, It seems like there was something to do with the Can Bus between a 20 and 30 series that the 20 was not compatible.

The DN345 is designed and integrated into the 8030/9030 Series Tractor platforms. As noted above, the braking and drawbar systems are only compatible with 8030/9030 series tractors. The following items are required to operate the DN345:

Required Equipment:

Tractor
8030 Series Tractor

Tractor hydraulic brakes - Waterloo code (9012) / bundle RE263680
1 ¾" 1000 rpm PTO shaft
Category 4 drawbar
Ball-type drawbar - Waterloo field-installed bundle RE268625

9030 Series Tractor (9230, 9330 & 9430)

Tractor hydraulic brakes - Waterloo code (9012) (see Waterloo price pages)
bundle RE269464 (MST transmission)
bundle RE269465 (PST transmission)
1 ¾" 1000 rpm PTO shaft - Waterloo code (9101) / bundle RE251216
Category 4 drawbar
Ball-type drawbar - Waterloo field-installed bundle RE283958

Pasco WA.
I was under the impression than OxBo builds the chassis for JD. http://www.oxbocorp.com/lowpacfeatures.php I own a Low Pac with a 15' New Leader 3020 spreader. With a 12 ton load you certainly do not need 250 hp unless your in really soft ground and big hills. I pull mine with a 4560 or a 4955.

Edit. A new Low Pac with an 18' 3020 G4 is in the $80K range.

Dang...for what all that crap is going to cost you could buy a real spreader cheaper.

Heck we pulled 12 tons on our 24' B&BI or a 18' Chandler with a 2wd 7700 and 4430 and it worked just peachy.    Most real floaters used to only be about 200 hp unless they were  spec'd for some special application.

We got a heck of a nice 1994 Loral chassis with a 4 year old new leader 2020g4 for $24,000. As fast as we spread, I don't see how a tractor and spreader could even come close. We go up to 20-25 mph while spreading. It does take quite a bit of power accelerating after turning. Now, I'm not saying that DN345 isn't a nice machine. I'm just saying for our situation, there is no way to justify a 80-100k spreader when you could have a almost new floater for the same.
