Central ND | While I wasn't old enough to ever run/set them, my grandpa had several 1660's and a 1060. It was a long time ago, but I remember him saying cylinder speed needed to stay at 1000 rpm. If wheat was tough threshing, they would tighten concave up until it was hitting, then back off a half-turn. The fan speed was set with a crank that adjusted pulley spread to change speed. I only remember one crank for the concaves, but the rods to the front and back were threaded at the bottom, I assume for adjusting level front to back. As someone said upthread, the return elevator is driven from the bottom, AND it has to turn another auger to take tailings into the cylinder. | |
