i would like someone to explain what advantage the process has for menards.
They draw you in for big purchases with 11% rebate, then probably only get 50% of the people that get them filled out and sent in, then you get your rebate back as store credit. So you are back in the store again, spending that 11% on more purchases on product that has at least a 50% markup, and you are very likely to spend well above that rebate, so that is additional sales volume that may have not materialized if you hadn't been holding that rebate card ready to spend it. It's actually a genius marketing plan to promote more retail volume movement, which is what makes the profit. It's the scheme used on men that is used on women by Kohls. Markup the price, offer a % off sale and everyone pours in the doors. Train them to never pay full retail and they'll always come to you for your sales. |
