Subject: Copied from Below

South Central Iowa

I am done with this EV thing. It was fun, but the EV is a niche product. This is copied from below, but the table is relevant to your point senodak. All EV peaked in 2013. Here is the post copy:

It's been a fun debate with you guys Groundhog, Numbers, Badger, DW, and anyone else! It is fun to encounter a different idea, gather and sort information, identify and isolate biases in secondary sources, search out the truth, form a structured argument for your case, and debate. It is a challenging exercise that sharpens the mind!

Some final facts. The market share of HEVs and PHEV/BEVs for the 5 year period of 2012-2016 are in the following table.

YearHEV PHEV
BEV
Total
2012 3.00% 0.37% 3.37%
20133.19%0.62%3.81%
20142.75%0.75%3.50%
20152.21%0.66%2.87%
20162.00%0.90%2.90%

Currently, the market for EVs peaked in 2013. Lower fuel prices have undoubtedly played a role in reversing adoption. Also noteworthy is the market share of Hybrids has fallen while the market share of Plug-ins has grown. The growth in Plug-ins has not been enough to offset the fall in Hybrid market share though and the EV market is currently 76% what it was in the peak of 2013. This would suggest market saturation of EVs as they are currently constituted has occurred. Those who desire an EV have one already and there is a move by hybrid buyers in two directions; one is to plug-ins and the other is to exit the EV market.

There is no way of telling if EV's actually will become a major portion of the market in the near future or not. We will not know until time transpires. So for now, it is just opinions.

Free Choice is not just opinion though; it is a basis of capitalism and a large part of what built our country. There should be no laws banning competing products. If the EV is a superior product, it will gain market share and displace the ICE; just as the refrigerator replaced the icebox or a thousand, thousand other things replaced their predecessors. Free Choice will select the best option!
