These guys have the right idea. Redesign the wedge. I built a log splitter years ago that just didn't seem to have the power it should. Dad told me the wedge was to fat, needed to be shaped just like an axe, thin and sharp and then gets wider. Redesigned it and it made a world of difference how it split.
