I think the future of biotech will be the ability to turn on and off certian areas of DNA to make a plant drought tolerant or whatever we desire. I think there has been much work in this area by BASF. I also believe they have as many as 70% of the pattens completed on those processes. It looks as if biotech goes that way, they may hold the trump card.
