I feel it's more of a price protection tool than a production protection tool. That 95% is a big deal.
If you are truely worried about sub $3.25 corn in 2018, this is the protection to have.
I've got to say, I'm a bit worried about production in 2018. If we were truely able to raise a 165 plus yield this year, with this weather.... I'm worried about what i'd be like with great weather.
I'll point out, here in Nebraska, I would not recommend Margin Protection for dryland. Maybe my opinion will change, but I think Revenue Protection will still rule for dryland crops.
Here's the question I ask.... On your irrigated ground, how many years have you paid the premium without collecting? I believe Margin Protection is going to work great on the irrigated crops.
