Duh, Minnesota having a big crop is already known. It is on par with last years yields. Why is this a surprise. They don't reach the northern part of minnnesota so these numbers get adjusted down. Minnesota is only 9 percent of the corn grown in the us. It will not average for the rest of the poor results from the corn belt.
This stuff always cracks me up. People laugh at Minnesota like its some kind of afterthought. As stated, MN is the fourth largest producer of corn, and it produces nearly as much as #5 and #6 combined. Minnesota absolutely weighs significantly into the overall corn picture.
Any statement of the contrary is just plain wrong. By this logic, Minnesota guys should scoff at Indiana and Ohio and Missouri like they are mud on the road. |
