West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | As the corn is coming out the bottom of the drier I take periodic test weights checks so we know what the test weight of the corn going into each bin is.
Why? More years than not we take advantage of the CCC loan program. I self measure my bins, the form I fill out at the FSA office asks for test weight. Here, test weight is used in the FSA calculation to come up with the actual bushels in the bin.
Here, if you have the FSA person come out and measure your bin, they take a test weight measure off the top, and if they can, they will take one from the door also.
Here, If I'm pulled for a random spot check some time during the loan period, the FSA person who is doing the bin measuring will take a test weight measure and use it in the calculation to figure actual bushels in the bins.
Many times, a full 36' Diameter x 8 ring tall bin will weigh more or less than the year before depending on the growing season.
