Northwest Iowa | My dad and I use these a ton and yes there are positives and negatives of them. A guy has to really be happy with your projected cash sale because the market can swing, one way or another, and you will be either saying I'm really glad I did that or disappointed in the contract and will say I won't use them again. They are a tool to market grain and work best when you go more than 9 months out. I like to be agreessive and get 10 to 15% of your production priced at really high levels and than use another 10 to 15% just to get a guy moving on sales so that he doesn't get caught having nothing priced like a lot of guys this year. Another thing is that their are a ton of different accumulator contracts with all different specs and little twists and turns. A guy has a lot of different options with them. | |
