EC SoDak | I've been pretty upfront with what I was seeing early June and continued with updates as the season progressed. I've also been one of the few providing pictures with what I was writing. I also gave a decent account of how the season unfolded for my area in a thread a handful of days ago, did you read it?
So, when I was allegedly calling it a "disaster," I was 4-6" behind on moisture without a rain from early/mid June until mid July with a whole lotta wind and heat inbetween as pollination was starting. Just as pollination started, it got cool and probably has rained 10-12 inches since. Light areas have short corn, some areas didn't make it, good ground held on. The really good stuff is north of me, they caught rain early July. Look no further than the stressed pics in IA, if that rain didn't come when it did, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. ;) | |
