North Central Illinois | I thought trend was around 170? At any rate I admit that the crop ratings don't support the crop that USDA is projecting at this point. I have been at 165 to 166 for a while now and still think that is in play depending on how we finish. There has been a lot of relief in Nebraska and Dakotas with rains in the last few weeks. Much damage already done in a lot of those places but a stabilizing factor nonetheless which will offset areas that are still dry. I think southern states and out east in places are going to carry some yield too. The crop looks good here right now but so far less than an inch of rain in August. We had a lot of rain in June and July so the tank was pretty full but the beans especially need a good soaker if they are going to realize full potential. The corn probably is what it is but I feel would still gain a little kernel depth and test weight with a good August rain. Latest 6 to 10 and 8 to 14 are below normal on temps and precip. | |
