You are right, rainfall can accomplish what incorporation does also. The problem we have, in the western edge of corn belt, is depending on a nice 1/2" of rain is a risky gamble. It may be weeks, and then it may be 3" +. So once again, what works (or is needed) here may differ from "there". Thanks for pointing that out.
