Rolla, ND | The basic reason they are planted that way is when they have a field day, they just can walk over to their hybrids and put on a nice presentation, it has the side benefit that if some of the competition's hybrids look real good, that it doesn't sit there right in the middle of the show. It all comes down to advertising.
Whenever I look at plot data, I try to throw out the companies own hybrids and just look at how the other companies do relative to each other. I don't figure they bothered getting special plot seed and such for the other companies so it's a truer representation of seed you or I would probably get, and not the best of the best that many companies save for their plots.
