Subject: Why are plots being blocked??

SW MN and Gold Canyon AZ
I have a hard time understanding why plots are being blocked and not planted by maturity or random selection.Example company "A" and company "B".This is how I see them planted.

A1
A2
A3
A4
B1
B2
B3
B4
Now would not it be better to plant it this way below??

A1
B1
A2
B2
A3
B3
A4
B4

The first way if the ground was better on the first 4 they would have an advantage over the second 4. If they do it the second way everyone has the same chance.
I see more and more of this blocking and it really baffles me. It seems very unscientific. The best plots are when everyone has the same number of chances ,are randomized and duplicated. It seems plots are being planted for field days and not for info on yield. To me its seems like some companies want to avoid certain competition side by side and block the plot and put checks in and then monkey with the info according to the checks to make there varieties look better.
That is what I am seeing.
What are your thoughts on this??
