Subject: RE: Case in ecolo tiger ripper 875

We owned a 15'Dominator for 450 yrs before trading for a 18' 870, that we've run for 5 years now. Last year we owned the Dominator we pulled it with the same tractor we pull the 870 with . Dom does a nice job but I have to give the nod to the 870 as far as sising, burial of trash, and levelness of job. We ran both machines at the same depth & same speed. Based just on width we csn do approximately 2 acres an hour more with the 870. Makes a difference you can cover in a day & amount of fuel used.

My biggest complaint with the Dom is how hard they pull plus it doesmt work the whole 15'. Unless we wanted to leave a streak we had to set the auto steer to under 14'. On the 870 we set the auyosteer for 18'- and the dield looks like it was worked in one pass. Even at 14' I had a neighborbask why ourbDom looked like it was leaving a row unworked, even thoughnwe were running on an angle. If you look at the rear discs they sit off to one side. Looks to me like it needs one more blade on the left rear. Made the desler mad when I suggested it to him.

As for the 870, my biggest complaints are that when it'wet, or snoe on the ground that trash tends to get in between the scraper arms & the arms that hold the bar that the scrapers bolt to. Eventually plugging the discs. If temps below freezing you have to clean the mud / st a lks out or it will freeze overnight &; discs won't turn. Had a hired man plug it up & left it sit overnight. Temps dropped close to 0 and we had to let it sit in the heated shop most of the day befoe we could clean it out.CIH has cchanged the scraper mountings on the 875. I'm strongly considering changing ours to t h e 875 style.

Other issue is with the baskets in mud. If too wet theynwill plug. I have found that by putting the baskets in the "float" position they won't plug but don't break down the clods quit as much, leaves ground more similiar to thebDom. To change its just the matter of pulling 2 pins per basket.,The 875 has hyd baskets

Have good friends that runmlate model Landol disc rippers that tell us they think our machine does an,oversll better job. Have another neighbors that r a n Landol disc rippers for seversl years that traded for 875s a couple years ago.

As I said earlier, I prefer our 870 but a Dominator would be my second choice.
