Two inch foam 2' down on the outside, 8 mil plastic under the slab. The last two winters we averaged about $600 per month to keep at 60°F. Propane boiler, floor heat. At a cost of $18,000 for the insulation and install, we did not put foam under the floor. We figured it would have to save us at least a $1000 per year to justify the cost. Add that to the fact that we run loaded 7 axle trucks in and out, we didn't feel the risks were worth the potential savings. Since you are going to have insulation down 2' farther than ours on the outside, you might be in a similar situation. I do know that the smaller a building gets, the more necessary under floor insulation is. I would call Premier Buildings in Fargo and ask Bill Rector what he would recommend. JMHO. | |
