Totally different tools IMO. We use to have a subsoiler, ran 21-22" deep. Had to be careful if you had any shallow tile. Used it mainly on end rows where trucks were loaded or paths where the grain cart ran. Currently running a disc ripper, usally 12" deep, would go deeper if we had more hp. Disc ripper will bury a lot mor trash, subsoiler shatters the subsoio more but doesn't disturb the surface as much.
