Biggest thing is to know what is worn out and will need replacing vs what has already/recently been replaced. If you send it into the dealer shop to have it all done, it could dramatically increase your investment in a 27 year old machine. Even doing it all yourself, seems like you can always spend a thousand here and a thousand there pretty easy.
I have an 89 with 30.5 singles that I run a Contourmaster equipped 930F on using a Headsight box to convert to the Dial a Matic header height control. Finding a good used flex head is a challenge, so having the ability to run newer models widens the field considerably.
